The IMX178 (Starvis 1. Gen) is a 6.44-megapixel M/C image sensor manufactured by Sony. It delivers a 3096 × 2080 pixel array with a 2.4 µm pixel pitch, providing efficient photon collection at each photosite. The optical format spans a 8.952 mm diagonal with a 387:260 aspect ratio, typical of the 1/2-inch optical class used in compact industrial cameras. With 2.4 µm pixels, the sensor features very fine pixel pitch targeting maximum spatial resolution in microscopy and metrology systems.
