The IMX678 (Starvis 2. Gen) is a 8.41-megapixel CMOS image sensor manufactured by Sony. It delivers a 3856 × 2180 pixel array with a 2 µm pixel pitch, providing efficient photon collection at each photosite. The optical format spans a 8.859 mm diagonal with a 964:545 aspect ratio, typical of the 1/2-inch optical class used in compact industrial cameras. With 2 µm pixels, the sensor features very fine pixel pitch targeting maximum spatial resolution in microscopy and metrology systems.
